how do I number my pages? 1,2,3...44

I want to number my pages on my blog, so I don't have all my post on one page.  I found a site on wordpress that gave me the HTML code.  Because I am so bad with technology, I have been asking this same question on forum after forum, but no can help me. 

Do I down load something, do I put it some where within my wordpress

I am so lost and so close to getting my site going.
