How do I embed a WordPress page's child pages?

Use the tag (remove all spaces) <!- -mychildren- -> on any page to embed the titles and have a show/hide link for all child pages.

Hello. I think I’m pretty savvy at these things, but I am stumped by the simplest question: how on earth do I actually activate this? Where does this snippet of code go, for instance? Not in the body of a page, that doesn’t work. In a custom template? Help!

(All the relevant settings are turned on, I just don't know how to tell the plugin where I want it to work – and that most basic question doesn't seem to be answered anywhere on this site...) Thank You.
