I only need one or two functions--the ability to put all of post content inside an existing Page so that when this Page link is called from navigation it displays Posts within one Category.

So from the Admin edit Page window I just want to stick one piece of code into the Page which I named News that will pull those posts inline onto that page so that the other css formatting in my custom template is applied to that page and the only thing that changes dynamically are the posts as they are updated.

And, of course, pagination so that the same page template is used when the next 5 or 10 chronological posts are viewed, however I decide to set that...

However, after just asking for those features and activating the modules I cannot access Pages anymore from the Admin panel. I can no longer see my pages and edit them when logged in. When I click on the Pages link to see them and edit them I get an ugly white error page with a 500 error saying I am not authorized to view them.

I have had to de-activate 1.2.8 for the time being.

I appreciate your help!
